The dance play stemmed from a research about wandering, walking idly, aimlessly and without right direction. However, due to the impossibility of the in-person premiere, Beatriz Sano and Eduardo Fukushima, choreographers and dancers, reworked it in video format.

From the wooden square in the middle of the stage, a space they used for an open rehearsal in pre-pandemic times, to the current concentration on the limits of the screen, the desire is to make the framed bodies vibrate. To this end, voice and breathing are critical, as demonstrated by the team’s attentive listening to Eastern practices.

“The movements are mixed between voices that blend from laughter to crying, from animal to human babble, from noise to melody, from noise to silence. The voice enhances and vibrates the sounding with the bodies. WHAT STAINS invades, increases, advances and distorts”, the creators intend.

The word “stain” arose from the relationship between voice and movement. Sano and Fukushima want to expand it and explode it in the body and transform it into quality of movement, valuing even the dissonance of the voices, making the “stain” the mark on the bodies. The artistic collaboration has been going on for eight years and both live in the city of São Paulo.
