Sesc Campinas | GinásioIn the new performance by the choreographer Alice Ripoll, reality and fantasy blend into a delirium, an apocalyptic dream. From the act of washing – with buckets, soap and water – the performance of Cia. REC exposes ambivalent images and questions what needs to be cleaned. The elements unfold in poetic images of exoduses, crossings, rituals, rebirth and resistance: the foam dyes the bodies and refers to invisibility; the bubbles suggest a dream world, in contrast to the lack of social mobility in the real world.
The audience is invited to contemplate the performance from a pictorial perspective, and to reflect on social positions and hierarchies, traced destinies and opportunities. The possibility of a new experience of sharing the space expands the contact between the interpreters and the audience. The proximity of the bodies sometimes refers to claustrophobia and concrete or symbolic squeezes, and sometimes it presents itself as the welcoming of a uterus, where the smells, the textures of the skin and the heat of the bodies are felt.
Result of the investigations of the collective formed by artists from the favela [slum] who elaborate and recreate contemporary art, the show presents an ancestry of struggles and secrets about the joy of not becoming obsessed with the race for money.
