For children

For children, the sensation of spinning can be magical. As we grow up, the enchantment provided by ordinary actions like this diminishes and sometimes disappears. In this show, Núcleo Iêê resumes the simplicity lost with maturation. “When we become adults, how much time do we waste worrying about everything but the now?”, the performer-creators ask.

Starting from capoeira [Brazilian martial art] to body creation and from experiences of the periphery to scenic constructions, the show proposes a fragmented experience in body, music and poetry that compares and connects the paradox between the child’s rush and the “run” of the adults. Thus, the artists invite children to see in the act of playing the possibilities of learning; and adults to create an escape valve in their routines and to connect with their inner children.

The group, formed by artists from the east side of São Paulo, unites capoeira with dance, live music and marginal spoken word poetry, and materializes on the scene the experiences of the periphery. The collective’s investigations inspire the aesthetic and semantic creation and reassume the right to exercise and propagate capoeira as dance, struggle and cultural action.
