Through this artistic residency, the dancer and choreographer Marcelo Evelin brings together people interested in participating in the recreation of his performance “The Barricade”. For six days, he and artists Bruno Moreno and Marcio Nonato lead participants through the practices that underpin the work, developed since 2019 by Evelin’s creative platform, the Demolition Incorporada.
In it, a group of connected bodies articulates and disarticulates on stage, proposing to think of proximity as a defense strategy and being together as a political position. The performance questions notions of autonomy and resistance by interrupting flows, displacing identities and rubbing boundaries.
The residency is open to artists and non-artists, with or without previous experience in dance, who are interested in body, politics and collectivity. Participants must be willing to be touched exhaustively by others and to participate throughout the residency and presentations.
