Premiere

The show is the debut of the Osibàtá Coletivo de Dança, formed by Enoque Santos, Kiusam de Oliveira and Rose Maria. Debating decoloniality and establishing dancing dialogues through corporeality and popular culture, the work reflects on the effects of racism on black bodies and ancestral paths to healing.

The autobiographical narratives of the three dancers sustain the creative process, which intersected with the poetics of Luiza Romão in her book “Sangria”, with the theoretical foundations of Luiz Rufino in his work “Pedagogia das Encruzilhadas”, and with the concept of body-temple-resistance of Kiusam de Oliveira in her “Pedagogia Eco-ancestral”. The inspiration also came from the dance techniques of masters Clyde Morgan and Germaine Acogny. By traversing African and contemporary dance, the dancers provoke, metaphorically, their bloodletting on stage.

Purging the pain suffered, the body bleeds and regulates itself, in an act of preservation. The self-purification expressed in movements and several crossings of languages of the scene is a transgression and a foundation for new beings to be born. A moment of beauty and celebration, the performance manifests itself as a dance of existence, resistance, resilience and reconstruction.
