Mithkal Alzghair’s solo echoes the questions surrounding the confrontation between the man and the authorities. Through a figurative, sculptural, and kinetic exploration, he portrays the body in front of a fragmented world surrounded by dominations and threats.

Physicality is his means of materializing and revealing the transformations that individuals and peoples go through because of imposed realities, capable of determining their destinies. The investigation happens between ambiguity and uncertainty, between the past and the future, between the artist’s personal narrative and the global context – because of the war in Syria, Mithkal lives as a political refugee in France.

The performer’s body focuses on the passage between two times – the past and what will come – and two places – what was and what is. Movement is a necessity and a motive for restoring the current landscape of rubble: he plays with rhythmic steps and structures, as well as with the continuous and increasing repetition of movements. Thus, he researches the limit of the body’s resistance and questions the extent to which it is possible to continue an action to adapt.
